Terms of Use

1. The service

Lisan is a subscription app for practising spoken languages with an AI tutor. It records your speech during lessons to give pronunciation and conversation feedback, and personalises lessons to your level and goals. We may add, change, or remove features to improve the service.

2. Subscription required

Lisan is a paid service. There is no free tier and no free trial. Continued access requires an active subscription, which you purchase in the app through the App Store or Google Play.

3. Who may use Lisan

You must be at least 13 years old to use Lisan, and an adult (18+) must own or authorise the payment method. By using Lisan you confirm you can form a binding contract under the laws of the UAE or your country.

4. Payments & renewals

• We offer two auto-renewing subscriptions: a Monthly plan and a Yearly plan. There is currently no free trial.
• Subscriptions are purchased and billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account, under their terms. Prices shown include applicable taxes where required.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
• You can manage or cancel anytime in your Apple Account (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies — we cannot process refunds directly. Statutory consumer-protection rights under UAE law are unaffected.

5. Your account

You sign in with Apple or Google. Keep your access secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@trylisan.app if you suspect unauthorised use.

6. Voice recording & consent

Lisan records your speech only during lessons and drills to provide feedback, and may send audio and transcripts to trusted AI providers to deliver that feature, as described in our Privacy Policy. By using the speaking features you consent to this processing. You can delete your recordings and data at any time in Settings → Privacy.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use Lisan for unlawful, abusive, or offensive content, or content that violates the moral and cultural standards protected under UAE law;
• infringe anyone's rights, or record other people's voices without their consent;
• attempt to breach security, scrape data, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the service; or
• share, resell, or commercially exploit your account or the service without our written permission.

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms or the law.

8. Content & ownership

• You keep ownership of your voice and content. You grant us a limited licence to store and process it solely to operate the service for you.
• Lisan owns the app, its lessons, content and software. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it while subscribed.

9. Availability

We work hard to keep Lisan running but provide it "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we are not responsible for issues caused by your device, network, or the app stores.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Lisan is not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UAE law. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

11. Suspension & termination

You may stop using Lisan and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or the law. Provisions that by their nature should survive — ownership, liability, and governing law — continue after termination.

12. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the relevant Emirate have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have in your country of residence. Where a user is in Saudi Arabia, the mandatory provisions of Saudi law also apply to them.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms as Lisan and the law evolve. We will post the new version here with a revised date, and for material changes notify you in the app. Continuing to use Lisan after a change means you accept it.
